Opus #1 and Virtual organ in a browser !

Hello everybody,

1/ Do you know if there is some Android emulator for PC ? -> Is it possible to use on a PC+Win7 with some emulator ?


2/ @achim and @masi : is there some attemps of creating such an application DIRECTLY IN A BROWSER (ie a virtual organ in a browser) ? With java or HTML5 ?

Do you think it's possible to have for example one stop (example : Montre 8) in a browser ? We could play with the mouse on a keyboard, or with MIDI ?
(Is it possible to use MIDI inputs on a web page in a browser ??? How ???)

Any ideas are welcome ! It could be a very nice project !

*If* Opus #1 is implemented in Java (it might also be C++), then the processing power of Java running in a browser should be good enough as well to play small samplesets. Large samplesets do not seam feasible, anyway, because the applet would have to download all the sample data from a web server, maybe each time it is running (I don't know about the options for applets to cache large amount of data).

Sadly, Java applets got a bit out of fashion. And I really don't think that JavaScript is or will in the near future be powerful enough to implement a virtual organ. But certainly you could create a web page with a virtual keyboard and stops buttons that allows to play single notes, for example to present the sound of single pipes of a sampleset.

Concerning MIDI usage in JavaScript: Googling shows that there are in fact options for this, for example http://code.google.com/p/midibridge-js/ . This would really be a nice project.

1) Bluestacks might be worth trying. The android emulator coming with the android sdk (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) will run Opus #1, but on many desktops Opus #1 will stutter because the emulator has to emulate arm code and that's too slow. If there is interest though, I can provide an X86 version of Opus #1. That might run ok on android x86 (http://www.android-x86.org/).

2) I'm not a web developer, so take it with caution: I think it might be possible to implement at least a small and simple organ based on HTML5/javascript. See http://www.bgfl.org/custom/resources_ft ... /index.htm for a start. The midibridge projects looks interesting too. Hm, yes, looks like an interesting project.

But do you think it's possible to port Opus #1 for usage in a browser ?
I don't know which technology it uses, but is Fluidsynth usable in a browser with java or something like that ?
